Abstract

Under the Master Plan-2031, Chandigarh is slated for a comprehensive makeover, focusing on residential, educational, commercial, and infrastructural developments. AI-generated visualizations offer a glimpse into the envisioned future, depicting the potential impact of these initiatives on various facets of urban life. While projects like EduCity have already kicked off, the proposal for a 35-acre film city in Sarangpur marks a significant step forward for the region, although past challenges in executing similar projects serve as a cautionary tale. Included in the Master Plan is a metro rail project, with discussions ongoing regarding the choice between underground and elevated tracks. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs holds sway in finalizing this decision.
