The recording of events is then manually screened to process information further.

There is no automated system in place that could perform various traffic related tasks appropriately and automatically. These tasks range from counting number of vehicles on the basis of their type, registration number, etc. The proposed system can be used to perform classification of vehicles accordingly in number of ways that could help to analyze the vehicular traffic on city roads, mobilize resources, increase or decrease frequency of public transport according to requirements and help in future planning in terms of widening of roads, deployment of manpower etc.

Objectives of the Proposed Project:

-Study of existing techniques for vehicle classification and explore the feasibility and deployment of various devices at strategic locations of the city 

-Propose system for classification of various vehicles

-Deployment and testing of proposed solution as pilot study

Expected Deliverables

-Automatic classification of vehicles in the streaming video to different classes such as:

    *Two Wheeler, three wheelers, four        wheeler, heavy vehicle, etc.

    *Commercial and non-commercial        vehicles

-Count of vehicles on the basis of their types plying on the city roads
