Detection of shadow regions in vehicular traffic is required as pre-processing application for various traffic related applications like road monitoring and traffic management. Use of common object detection method fail to accurately differentiate between vehicle regions(foreground) and shadow regions resulting in low precision and accuracy. Detection of shadow regions in videos is widely appreciated since it reduces reliability of several tasks like segmentation, classification, counting, tracking etc. A deep learning CNN based approach is under development in this regard with the following objectives:

Objectives of the Proposed Project:

-> Study of existing techniques for shadow detection and removal in videos.

-> To propose a deep learning CNN based system for shadow detection and removal in videos

-> To test and validate performance of proposed system on benchmark datasets and comparison with state of art methods.
