Traffic Sensing and IT

Project Title: Traffic Event Detection using Acoustic Sensors.

Theme: Traffic Sensing and IT”

Investigators: Dinesh Kumar (Research Scholar), Arshvir Kaur (ME CSE), Dr. Naveen Aggarwal

This project will be based on to detect acoustic events in closed environment and commuter will be notified about these events. We will detect events such as about the position of commuters (Busy or Quite Street), vehicle in which they are travelling (Car, Bus, Auto, train etc.) and flow of traffic (free flow, medium flow, congestion).

Project Title: Vehicle classification and Counting using Vision Sensors.

Theme: Traffic Sensing and IT”

Investigators: Dr. Akashdeep, Dr. Ajay Mittal, Dr. Naveen Aggarwal, Dr. Harish Kumar

This project will be based on development of a solution to detect, classify and count the different types of vehicles coming inside the city. For initial prototype development, camera will be installed inside the university.

 

Project Title: Ambulance Detection using RFID Sensors.

Theme: Traffic Sensing and IT”

Investigators: Mr Sarvjit Singh, Dr. Naveen Aggarwal

This project will be based on development of a prototype to detect the Ambulance by installing a series of RFID sensors on roadsides.

Project Title: Traffic Event Detection and Path estimation using Barometer Sensors.

Theme: Traffic Sensing and IT”

Investigators: Anuj Dimri, Harsimran Singh, Samriddhi Singla, Simran Jain (BE CSE Students), Dr. Naveen Aggarwal

Using Barometer Sensors, we will try to recognize the movements of commuter (Still or Moving). Based on user movement we will try to determine the state of traffic (free flow, medium flow, congestion). We will also try to determine the path travelled by user before experiencing the congestion state. This project will also be helpful to track commuter movements without the use of GPS or any other communication devices.

 

Project Title: Pedestrian Detection using Thermal Sensor.

Theme: Traffic Sensing and IT

Investigators: Dr. Veenu Mangat, Ms. Roopali Garg, Dr. Yogita, Dr. Ajay Mittal, Dr. Naveen Aggarwal

Pedestrian detection is very important in various applications like automated lights, detection of anomalous activity and for general traffic management. Most of the existing techniques for pedestrian detection have employed vision cameras which have its own share of drawbacks like vision cameras cease functioning in low light conditions and foggy conditions. In this proposal, we will focus on pedestrian detection using thermal imaging for traffic light automation.

Initially in this study, the existing literature on pedestrian detection using normal vision cameras and thermal imaging will be studied. Further, we aim at proposing a solution using thermal image cameras.

 

Project Title: Indoor Navigation System for UIET.

Theme: Traffic Sensing and IT”

Investigators: Rajat Kosh (UIET Alumunus), Puneet Sikka (UIET Alumunus), Dr. Naveen Aggarwal

This project will be based on installation of Bluetooth sensor for indoor navigation system and designing of an app for navigation of a person inside UIET building without using any Internet or GPS connections.

 

Project Title: Bus Event Detection at Bus Stop.

Theme: Traffic Sensing and IT”

Investigators: Akhilesh Kumar (BE ECE), Ankit Kumar (BE ECE), Abhinav Mathur (BE ECE), Nitakshi Sood (BE CSE) Dr. Naveen Aggarwal

This project will be based on development of a prototype to detect the Buses at Bus Stop. Two sensors primarily will be used: Bluetooth Sensor and Acoustic Sensor.

Project Title: Mobility Map of City and data indexing and data layer API formation

This project will be based on studying and proposing a system level architecture for implementation keeping privacy and trust issues in mind.
